Kratos Defense and Security Solutions has booked follow-on contracts worth more than $30 million combined to provide technology for use in U.S. national security space missions.

The company said Wednesday it did not provide additional information on the awards due to competition and customer-related concerns.

“Space is undergoing a renaissance," said Phil Carrai, president of the space, training and cybersecurity division at Kratos.

Carrai added the company aims to introduce technologies that could support space networks and help drive the transformation of ground and satellite platforms.

Last month, Kratos' XQ-58A Valkyrie unmanned combat aerial vehicle deployed a small drone from its internal weapons bay during a demonstration flight.

UAS maker Area-I and the Air Force Research Laboratory helped Kratos develop the sUAS carriage along with the release software.
