Finnish microsatellite company Iceye has opened its U.S. headquarters in Irvine, California, where it will manufacture synthetic aperture radar satellites and other spacecraft as part of its partnership with In-Q-Tel to advance delivery of technologies to government agencies.
The new facility will host U.S. licensed spacecraft monitoring and operating activities through a mission operations center and will include a research and development laboratory, customer engagement space and offices, Iceye said Thursday.
"Our new facility strengthens Iceye's ability to rapidly deliver decision-quality insights, to build assets for U.S. missions, and to address the hybrid architecture needs of the U.S. government as a trusted provider of commercial services," said Eric Jensen, president of Iceye's U.S. business arm.
Jensen also commented on the agreement between Iceye and In-Q-Tel to provide U.S. customers with radar imaging technologies.
Iceye has also announced job opportunities in line with its business expansion in the U.S. The company is looking for professionals skilled in spacecraft engineering, assembly, integration and testing as well as those with experience in customer service, project management, software development and sales.
