The accreditation body of the Department of Defense's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification has formed the Industry Advisory Council that will be responsible for providing CMMC-AB and DOD with CMMC implementation feedback, input and recommendations on behalf of organizations seeking certification (OSCs).
CMMC-AB Board Chairman Karlton Johnson said in a statement published Tuesday the IAC will function as “a crucible for industry dialogue” and will work to help the defense industrial base address cyber readiness challenges and to boost CMMC to its maximum potential.
The IAC is chaired by CMMC-AB's current treasurer, Yong-Gon Chon, and is composed of thought leaders representing large and small companies from a wide variety of markets within the DIB.
Inaugural members include CISOs Nicole Dean of Accenture Federal Services, Darren Death of ASRC Federal and Michael Baker of General Dynamics Information Technology, and deputy CISO for federal Michael Rohde of ServiceNow.
The following professionals are also inaugural members: Adam McNair, COO of Highlight Technologies; Neil Brink, cybersecurity specialist at Rolls-Royce; Brian Thompson, director of GovCloud Security & Compliance at Salesforce; Allison Krache Giddens, president of Win-Tech; Ted Steffan, senior security partner strategist at Amazon Web Services; Jeffrey Dodson, CSO of BAE Systems; Timothy Trickett, CTO for BDO; and Jake Williams, information technology security manager at Doncasters Group.
"And just like the volunteer professionals in the AB, the IAC volunteers have chosen to serve a higher cause. Their leadership, skill, and professional expertise will greatly contribute to the overall success of the CMMC program," said Johnson.
IAC members will use the platform to share and validate real-world experiences and advise their industry peers.
The DIB has approximately 300,000 companies that will be represented by the council.
