CAES was tapped by an unnamed fifth generation wireless technology manufacturer to supply a millimeter wave up- and down-converter that will be designed and developed to be applicable to 5G equipment and capable of supporting the 28 GHz and 39 GHz bands and multichannel communications.
The company said Monday its portfolio of mmW frequency converters features compact design and thermal management technology and delivers high spurious suppression, low phase noise and gain flatness for signal fidelity.
Some assembly and test functions of the converters can be automated to lessen cycle time and cost. The products also support channel-to-channel isolation and high density circuit integration.
Mike Kahn, CEO of CAES and a 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, said the company has the technical capabilities and wideband mmW expertise needed to help its customer serve the 5G market.
“[Those,] combined with our ability to scale up production volumes, are exactly what customers are looking for in a partner,” he added.
Aside from 5G equipment, the mmW products of CAES are used in electronic warfare, radar, missile and satellite communication systems.
