The training and certification arm of Amazon Web Services will host a series of workshops starting Friday to overview the fundamental security concepts associated with the company’s cloud computing platform for U.S. government clients.
AWS said Monday its four-module course, titled “Introduction to Governance and Compliance in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions,” seeks to educate participants about access control and other features intended to protect sensitive data in the cloud.
The company plans to conduct live training sessions, which will include two in-console demonstrations, on a quarterly basis after the first course is completed.
Individuals who want to learn about governance and compliance in GovCloud (US) regions, or those who have a traditional data-centric view of computing are invited to join the event.
An instructor will discuss how the AWS cloud technology secures different layers of the computing environment, as well as the methods for encrypting data at rest and in transit and services available for incident response.
Joshua Bregler, an AWS technical trainer, will speak at the first training session.
GovCloud (US) consists of eastern and western regions that are designed to help agencies manage controlled unclassified information such as sensitive medical records and financial and law enforcement data.
