Parsons will further invest in research and development projects that seek to address the environmental issue of polyfluoroalkyl substances or PFAS, which pose health risks to some sources of drinking water.
The company said Wednesday its investments in PFAS research include machine learning and data-driven techniques to identify and mitigate PFAS risks.
Parsons is also studying technologies meant to detect and treat PFAS, and is working to expand its New York-based environmental laboratory that leads PFAS research.
“PFAS has risen as one of today’s most significant environmental issues, and as regulations evolve to better address emerging contaminants, we expect the market for PFAS mitigation and remediation to continue to grow,†said Jon Moretta, executive vice president of industrial market at Parsons.Â
Parsons has been active in environmental sustainability efforts over the past 40 years, with more than 250 PFAS-related projects.
