BAE to Help Integrate Navy Aircraft Landing Tech

BAE Systems has received a four-year, $42.5 million task order to help the U.S. Navy integrate shore-based landing systems that guide the trajectory and ensure the flight safety of naval aircraft.

The company said Tuesday it will support the integration of instrument carrier and instrument landing systems, which enhance the navigation of Navy aircraft via radio beam signals.

These systems allow pilots to correct flight paths without the external intervention of air traffic personnel.

“For several decades, we have been responsible for integrating the Navy’s landing systems, which are critical to the safety of warfighters in the air and on the ground,” said Lisa Hand, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems' integrated defense solutions business.

The business segment has a history of installing and sustaining military aircraft landing systems.
