Microsoft has collaborated with Ashish Jha, dean of Brown University's School of Public Health, to create a tool for tracking the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines around the world and progress in vaccination initiatives throughout the U.S.
John Kahan, chief data analytics officer at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post published Friday the dashboard offers information on state-level efforts toward meeting the White House's goal of providing 100 million shots in the first 100 days of the Biden administration.
He noted the platform compiles state-by-state data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and academic institutions as well as global statistics from the Our World in Data organization.
“The new dashboard is also unique in that it shows U.S. data on vaccination distribution alongside data on cases, hospitalizations and deaths," Jha said.
"This allows us to see how vaccination progress compares to the size of the outbreak in each state.â€
According to Kahan, the tool shows comprehensive details across six areas including the number of people in the U.S. who have received full shots and the percentage of administered doses.
