L3Harris Technologies has secured a potential $300 million subcontract to provide subsystems and related integration services for a new class of guided-missile frigates being developed by Fincantieri Marinette Marine under a U.S. Navy surface combatant program.
L3Harris said Monday it will produce and integrate major subsystems for FFG 62 or the future USS Constellation, the first of up to 10 FFG (X) Constellation-class frigates being considered by the military service branch.
The subcontract tasks L3Harris to design, develop and produce the ship's electrical, propulsion, navigation and bridge systems, and to provide aviation integration support.
The company will perform subcontract work at Fincantieri's shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin.
Fincantieri leads a team of commercial companies to produce the FFG ships under a prime contract with the Navy.
