In-Q-Tel has unveiled a new initiative that seeks to build connections between entrepreneurs and the government to support technology development and commercialization efforts.
IQT said Friday it intends to identify early-stage government-funded research and development projects and bring them to the market as part of the Emerge program.
The company noted it will team up with commercialization advisers and entrepreneurs in line with the effort.
"Too often government-funded R&D fails to gain a commercial footing because the government technology pipeline is not connected with entrepreneurs and early-stage capital—a great loss of economic and national security value to the government and to the United States," said Simon Davidson, an executive vice president at IQT.
IQT works to help the national security community by considering commercially focused technologies in the global market for potential use in national technology missions.
