William King, an executive adviser at Booz Allen Hamilton and a retired U.S. Army brigadier general, has said the complexity of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear explosive defense missions demands an integrated and mission-focused approach to counter weapons of mass destruction.
He wrote in a commentary for Defense News published Monday that government organizations need to generate a mutual understanding and gain situational awareness of the CWMD enterprise through a single framework.
The framework should involve the development of policies that outline authority and accountability for authorities for mission partners supporting global CWMD operations as well as the use of technology designed to analyze, integrate and share huge amounts of data across protected domains, according to King.
The former head of 20th CBRNE Command noted that Interpol and the United Nations collaborate to engage the law enforcement sector in efforts to prevent, prepare for and respond to such threats.
"We will need more partnerships like these across nations and coalitions," King added.
