The U.S. Air Force has announced its intent to seek proposals on software tools and approaches on data capture and format transfer activities.

According to a beta SAM notice posted Wednesday, the Air Force aims to capture and convert reports stored in microfiche, film or hardcopy into electronic media format.

The effort seeks to explore content enhancement and the usage of automated and human-based optical character recognition tools for digitized reports.

USAF also plans to study and build system replacement approaches, software tools and applications to optimize information analysis, visualization, evaluation, database integration and data publishing efforts.

USAF intends to solicit proposals through a competitive small business-set aside procurement process for the project. The military service expects to award an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a five-year ordering period on Oct. 1.
