Russell Bartlett, former president and CEO of Textron's airborne solutions business, has joined Kaman as the aerospace company's chief operating officer, responsible for business development and operational initiatives.
Kaman said Monday Bartlett served as the president of Beechcraft's defense subsidiary before moving to Textron Airborne Solutions to lead the Textron division.
Ian Walsh, president and CEO of Kaman, expressed belief that Bartlett's leadership track record within the aerospace and defense industries will enable him to drive Kaman's efforts to have better operating performance.
Prior to joining the private sector, Bartlett served as a U.S. Navy captain. He led the Navy's Joint Integrated Air Capabilities and Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction groups and served as commanding officer and flight leader at the service branch's Flight Demonstration Squadron.
Bartlett also functioned as director of security assistance at the Navy International Programs Office before his retirement from the military in 2008.
