Cubic's mission and performance solutions business has implemented a FirstNet-ready push-to-talk capability into its Vocality radio internet protocol and M3-SE-MFGW gateways to support interoperability between LTE and land mobile radio networks.
The capability is designed to equip analog and trunked LMR platforms with push-to-talk over cellular features and is compliant with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project, the company said Wednesday.
The company worked with the First Responder Network Authority and AT&T to validate the compatibility of the mission-critical push-to-talk features with FirstNet PTT.
"Offering the feature to all of our gateway users through a software update was an easy decision to make as we continue to support our first responder customers," said Mike Barthlow, senior vice president and general manager of mission communications and computing at Cubic's mission and performance solutions business.
Cubic noted its gateways provide priority and preemption features via a dedicated FirstNet network core as well as offer compatibility with the Band 14 frequency.
Vocality is designed to enable secure standards-based tunneling within first responder and commercial 4G LTE networks through a transport layer security encryption.
