The Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate awarded over $1.5M to Corner Alliance for the development of a new emergency guidance planning app.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's website would feature the Alerts, Warnings and Notifications guidance tool that would offer best practices, customized resources and templates for emergency planning and readiness efforts, DHS said Tuesday.
The tool's development continues S&T's work with FEMA under the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System program that aims to increase the interoperability of multiple alert technologies, help public safety agencies reduce alerting delays and plan future enhancements for warning systems.
"There is a growing need to push actionable information out quickly to the public in order to save lives,†said Antwane Johnson, director of FEMA’s IPAWS office.
Corner Alliance received the contract for the AWN guidance tool through S&T's Long-Range Broad Agency Announcement program.
The Washington, D.C.-based small business offers consulting services in multiple areas such as digital communications, program management, wireless engineering and technology strategy.
