World Wide Technology’s Vimesh Patel: Agencies’ AI Implementation Approach Must Consider Specific Use Cases

Vimesh Patel, chief technology adviser of public sector at digital consulting firm World Wide Technology, has said that agencies must modify their artificial intelligence strategy and implement technologies based on use cases, FedScoop reported Wednesday.

Patel told attendees at a recent FedTalks event that agencies often make the mistake of buying too many technology platforms and establishing a large data lake “without really any clear objectives for how they’re going to derive value out of it.”

He recommends agencies to first identify use cases before mapping out the analytics and techniques suitable for those use cases.

“Start with very specific use cases. It’s OK if you end up in silos, because once you understand those use cases, you will know a lot more about what you need to scale and grow from there,” he noted.

Patel’s comments come as the Department of Agriculture continues its efforts to scale AI at the enterprise level, according to the report.
