A CAE subsidiary has received a subcontract from BAE Systems for services in support of the latter's work to develop a new cloud-powered training environment for the U.S. Marine Corps.

CAE said Wednesday its USA Mission Solutions subsidiary will help BAE prototype cloud models and simulations for USMC Base Quantico's planned Wargaming Center under a $19M contract the military branch awarded to BAE in August.

The future training platform would incorporate artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, game theory and other data-driven technologies. USMC will use the platform to assess new technologies, wargaming processes and strategies in an immersive, information-driven fashion.

CAE USA Mission Solutions' work under the 18-month cloud modeling and simulation phase will include weather modeling, 3D data visualization and delivery of other services and expertise needed to develop the synthetic environment.

BAE is one of the three prime contractors Marine Corps tapped to prototype the platform.

“We are building on our experience supporting the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory Wargaming Division and partnering with digital technology experts such as CAE to produce an advanced prototype to help prepare an efficient, precise and consistent force capable of fighting future wars in multiple domains,” said Peder Jungck, vice president and general manager of BAE's intelligence solutions unit.

Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA, said the company's data fusion and visualization expertise complement the rest of BAE Systems' team for the effort.
