The Department of Homeland Security has unveiled 12 new subject areas for the Small Business Innovation Research program in fiscal year 2021, covering concepts such as 5G network security, supply chain management and biothreat detection.
SBIR 21.1 topic areas include a “breathalyzer†concept for virus detection, 5G and Wifi6 network coexistence, amphibious ice rescue vehicles, artificial intelligence-based 911 capabilities and passenger screening technologies, DHS said Friday.
William Bryan, acting undersecretary of homeland security for science and technology, said the FY21 SBIR topics “span a broad range of homeland security needs†that require innovative concepts.
“The SBIR Program is an excellent pathway for small businesses to access government funding and turn their ideas into impact,†he noted.
DHS will accept responses to the presolicitation until Dec. 10.
