Booz Allen's Wes Haga, Courtney Crosby: DoD Needs More AI Acquisition, Deployment Strategies - top government contractors - best government contracting event
Artificial Intelligence

Wes Haga and Courtney Crosby, solutions architects at Booz Allen Hamilton, have said that the government must adopt more acquisition techniques to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence and related technologies for future operating environments.

Haga and Crosby wrote in an opinion piece published Friday on National Defense Magazine that AI is meant to streamline actions and decision-making throughout the military enterprise in line with evolving machine-age requirements.

They also said that AI enables service branches to exploit current sensor and communications technologies to support command-and-control operations including those handled by the Department of Defense's Advanced Battle Management System.

AI is additionally meant to identify underlying network traffic patterns that are undetectable by human operators while providing a comprehensive visualization of the battlespace, according to Haga and Crosby.

“AI empowers connections between disparate pieces of information. By coalescing data across domains and services into a single place, it makes information more discoverable, for swifter and sharper decisions,” they added.

“It also allows learning and the application of knowledge across domains. It is particularly well-suited to addressing novel scenarios and changing mission requirements.”

Haga is a senior solutions architect at Booz Allen while Crosby currently serves as a chief AI solutions architect at the company.
