Textron Systems has partnered with Shield AI to integrate the latter’s artificial intelligence technologies into Textron's land, air and sea-based unmanned systems for various multidomain defense applications.
The two companies will demonstrate a proof of concept that combines Textron’s systems integration expertise with Shield AI’s offerings that are designed to enable edge-level operations in connectivity-denied environments, Textron said Tuesday.
Ryan Tseng, cofounder and CEO of Shield AI, said the partnership will support the company’s efforts to deliver and scale its maneuverability-focused AI portfolio.
Wayne Prender, senior vice president of Textron, noted that the partnership builds on Textron’s work with the Department of Defense since the 1980s.
He added that the company is continuously developing its autonomous systems to "meet stated and anticipated future requirements†of customers.
Shield AI is headquartered in San Diego, Calif., and offers AI hardware and software designed to address the mission goals of defense and national security clients.
