Raytheon Technologies has developed an open-architecture data management system designed to integrate with disparate platforms used by the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Army.
Raytheon’s intelligence and space business said Wednesday the Common Open Secure Mission Computer deploys a modular, open-systems framework to prevent vendor lock in systems that require modifications to suit mission needs.
COSMC is built to host mission management, sensor processing, video display, weapons stores and other data fusion functions to support land-, air- and sea-based platforms.
John Stephens, product line manager for secure mission processing at RI&S, said the company used various system requirements to develop COSMC, which is compatible with a range of platforms including the A-10 Thunderbolt II attack jet and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye early-warning aircraft.
RI&S also implemented Agile and DevSecOps approaches to ensure that cybersecurity elements are “baked in from the beginning rather than being bolted on afterwards,†he noted.
Raytheon has demonstrated COSMC to the Air Force and plans to offer the technology to the other military branches, according to the company.
