Forcepoint’s Eric Trexler: Agencies Should Invest in Cyber Platforms to Achieve Agility

Eric Trexler, vice president of global governments and critical infrastructure at Forcepoint, wrote in a Nextgov article published Thursday that federal agencies looking to achieve cyber agility should invest in their cybersecurity platforms to deal with rapidly evolving cyber threats.

“With platforms, though, agencies can build on their existing contract and customer support to upgrade and enable features as they’re needed, with only incremental training and policy changes,” Trexler wrote.

“Integrating new cyber capabilities into the existing platform will save employees from having to learn and consolidate a new technology repeatedly – an unsustainable task, particularly given the cyber workforce’s severe shortage,” he added.

Trexler said agencies should use and integrate artificial intelligence into their cyber platforms to allow their personnel to focus on more complex tasks.

“AI removes human fallibility from mundane processes, while also freeing up employees to engage in more creative, out-of-the-box thought and analysis,” he added.
