Mike Holmes, a retired U.S. Air Force general and former commander of Air Combat Command, has joined the advisory board of Santa Monica, California-based combat pilot training technology developer Red 6.

"Part of the reason I was drawn to Red 6 is the great team of people they have, their commitment to the development of this cutting-edge technology, and the impact this system could have on the training and proficiency of our combat pilots," Holmes said in a statement released Friday.

He brings nearly four decades of military experience as the company further develops its Airborne Tactical Augmented Reality System to help warfighters train in simulated threat environments.

As the ACC chief, Holmes worked to ensure readiness of combat forces for cyber, air, space and intelligence missions.

He logged more than 4K flight hours with military fighter aircraft platforms such as the F-15.
