Rocket Lab has wrapped up wet dress rehearsal activities for the Electron vehicle ahead of its liftoff from a launch complex at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Virginia.
The company said Thursday it raised the launch vehicle vertically and filled it with liquid oxygen and kerosene to validate the rocket's fueling process.
NASA is still in the final development and certification phase for Electron's Autonomous Flight Termination System software.
Rocket Lab’s Electron vehicle will take off from launch complex 2 to carry out a mission for the U.S. Space Force in partnership with the Space and Missile Systems Center and the Department of Defense.
LC-2 supplements the company’s New Zealand-based launch site, LC-1. The two launch sites can perform more than 130 launch missions combined on an annual basis.
