Iron Mountain

Iron Mountain will provide colocation services to a federal civilian agency at two data centers in Northern Virginia and Denver under a lease agreement slated to take effect in 2021’s second quarter.

The government customer leased 4 megawatts of information technology capacity in the provider’s VA-2 campus to transition data from an on-premise repository, Iron Mountain said Tuesday.

VA-2 is part of an 83-acre campus and offers interconnection site access in Reston and Ashburn.

The agency also intends to move a 1.5-MW disaster recovery space at a company data center in Pennsylvania to the DEN-1 facility with 1 MW of incremental power capacity.

DEN-1 is located in downtown Denver and supports a dozen network carriers along with various cloud exchanges.

Iron Mountain noted that its data center infrastructure use cases include hybrid IT colocation, business continuity and consolidation.
