BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary has entered the medium-size unmanned undersea vehicle market with the introduction of its first UUV offering after the company acquired Riptide Autonomous Solutions in June last year.
UUV-12 can be tailored to accommodate different mission and payload requirement and support radio frequency signal collection, electronic warfare, friend or foe identification, navigation and communications. BAE said Tuesday.
“With this medium-size platform, we are strategically aligning our modular, open architecture-based UUV platform to meet rapidly expanding applications and requirements,” said Jeff Smith, chief scientist at BAE’s FAST Labs research and development unit.
The company designed the new vehicle for military and commercial applications.
