The Transportation Security Administration is looking for information on identity verification approaches to support the agency’s vetting procedures for passengers without physical identification documents.
TSA said in a notice posted Monday on the beta SAM website that the potential screening technology will be contractor-owned and operated and must be able to process data without biometric elements.
According to the request for information, TSA plans to deploy a digital service platform that can confirm personal identities in near real-time and potentially integrate with other commercial technologies.
The identity assurance service must be fee-based and accessible through TSA checkpoints. In addition, the technology must have a front-end interface that allows passengers to input limited biographic and payment information that will be processed through back-end database capabilities.
Interested parties must submit responses to the RFI through Aug. 28.
