Symplur

The National Institutes of Health plans to award a sole-source contract to Symplur to avail of the latter’s social media analytics tool for the monitoring and analysis of NIH’s official Twitter accounts.

NIH said in a notice posted Wednesday on the beta SAM website that the NIH Office of the Director seeks services and software from healthcare-focused data analytics companies that will enable agency personnel to manage Twitter-based conversational functionalities.

According to the statement of work, Twitter serves as one of NIH’s main platforms for providing public access to “important, newsworthy research” conducted under the Department of Health and Human Services component.

The potential contractor will provide its analytics tool to help on-site as well as remote NIH staff in efforts to manage 17.4M social media impressions that the agency generates through its 138 Twitter profiles including @NIH and @NIHDirector.

The contract will have a one-year base period and two one-year extension options.

Symplur is headquartered in Pasadena, Calif., and offers tools like the Symplur Signals and Healthcare Social Graph that work to visualize large volumes of social media analytics data.
