Navy Taps Signal Systems Corp to Supply Sensors, Sonar Tech for R&D Program

Sensor technology maker Signal Systems Corp. has received a potential five-year, $13.5M contract to provide undersea and anti-submarine warfare technologies to support the U.S. Navy’s sonar signal processing research and development efforts.

The order comes as part of a previously awarded basic ordering agreement under the Navy’s Small Business Innovation Research program aimed at furthering the development of sensors, telemetry and data-processing systems, the Department of Defense said Monday.

Technologies covered by the SBIR effort include acoustic systems for ASW platforms, modeling technology, information assurance systems, cybersecurity tools and analysis concepts for predicting the performance of ASW systems.

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division will obligate $683K in fiscal 2020 Navy research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.

Contract work will take place in Maryland through July 2025.

SSC is a small business headquartered in Millersville, Md., that offers maritime acoustics and signals processing technologies to support surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
