L3Harris Technologies has been selected to update three autonomous undersea vehicles the U.K. navy intends to use in unmanned minehunting and surveying missions.
The company said Friday it will integrate a collaborative autonomy architecture, navigation sensors, an automatic target recognition technology and communications systems into Iver3 AUVs.
Upgrades fall under Project Wilton, the British navy's initiative to deploy a route survey system with an equipment suite that includes remotely piloted platforms and a portable operation hub.
The system is scheduled to reach initial operating capability status in the third quarter.
