The Information Technology Industry Council has introduced a set of principles to support national security coordination initiatives between global industry players and the U.S. government.
ITI said Monday the guidelines, known as “Principles for Improved Policymaking and Enhanced Cooperation on National Security, Technology and Tradeâ€, encompass five courses of action that the public and private sectors can implement to promote economic growth and international engagement.
The council’s principles include recommendations for the U.S. government to “work in concert with like-minded economies†and remove barriers that impede technological innovation.
“As more and more policies aimed at strengthening national security intersect with trade, technology, and supply chain risk management policies, we urge the U.S. government to address these very legitimate concerns in ways that don’t create unintended negative consequences for U.S. companies, the economy, or national security,†said Jason Oxman, president and CEO of ITI.
ITI is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and operates as a global trade association that works to promote dialogue on IT-related advocacy and policy. Its members include Google, Accenture, Amazon, IBM, Honeywell and VMware.
