Raytheon Technologies has landed a potential five-year, $47.5M contract to simulate operating modes and create detection algorithms for the radar system of the U.S. Navy's modernized Arleigh Burke-class destroyer ships.
The company will equip hardware representing the AN/SPY-6(V)1 air and missile defense radar with new algorithms for field tests as part of the Receive Only Cooperative Radar contract, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The Office of Naval Research competitively procured the services through a broad agency announcement and will initially obligate $6.7M at the time of award.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is valued at $29.2M over the three-year base period and would reach its potential value if the service branch exercises the two-year option period.
Work is initially scheduled to conclude on May 25, 2023.
Raytheon developed the SPY-6(V)1 radar for integration into DDG 51 Flight III guided missile destroyers.
