Lockheed Martin has completed flight tests and demonstrated related functions of a new missile designed to hit targets at long ranges.

The company said Thursday its Precision Strike Missile launched from the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and demonstrated lethality, range, accuracy, trajectory and overall performance during the third test at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. PrSM hit its target from a range of about 52.8 miles.

The final test followed two previous entries in December and March, and is part of the PrSM program’s technology maturation and risk reduction phase.

“We’ve validated the design and performance of our baseline tactical missile and are already working with our Army partner on engineering design resting, production readiness and fielding requirements to support the future needs of the soldier,” said Gaylia Campbell, vice president of precision fires and combat maneuver systems at Lockheed Martin’s missiles and fire control business.
