A small business within L3Harris Technologies has received a potential five-year, $69.5M contract to help the U.S. Navy develop undersea warfare and surface warfare systems.

L3 Adaptive Methods will perform engineering work and develop technologies for the Navy and Japan under the cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost contract, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The sole-source contract has a base value of $12.7M and options for four years of continued services.

Work will take place in the states of Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia and Washington through April 2021 and will extend through April 2025 if all included options are exercised.

Naval Sea Systems Command awarded the contract under the Small Business Innovative Research program. NAVSEA will finance initial work via $6.1M in foreign military sales funds and fiscal 2020 funds allotted for research, development, test and evaluation, shipbuilding and conversion and operations and maintenance.
