Lockheed Martin has selected CAE’s U.S. subsidiary to support the development and production of three systems to train U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command personnel to operate the C-130J multimission aircraft.
As part of the subcontract, CAE will help manufacture two simulators intended for the MC-130J Commando II refueling tanker AFSOC deploys to perform transport and special missions, the company said Thursday.
The industry team will also build a simulation platform to support reconfiguration between MC-130J and the aircraft's EC-130J variant, which is meant for AFSOC’s multinetwork information operations.
Lockheed received an $87M contract in November to provide simulation training support to Air Force aircrew and maintainers.
Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA, said the recent award builds on the two companies' aircraft training system development partnership over the past two decades.
He added that the simulators will drive the command's adoption of synthetic approaches across its training curriculum.
Various air bases are scheduled to receive the full-mission simulators in 2023.
