Boeing has handed over to the U.S. Navy the 100th unit of a long-range multimission aircraft built to perform maritime and coastal operations.
Based on the Boeing 737 platform, the P-8A Poseidon aircraft houses a platform that enables interoperability features in the battlefield as well as coastal and maritime missions, the company said Thursday.
This is the Navy’s 94th mission-capable aircraft and is set to log 300K flight hours in aerial reconnaissance missions worldwide. The service branch expects to receive the 100th mission-capable unit later in the year.
Boeing also produced 12 P-8 systems for the Indian Navy, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force.
