Thirty-one companies have founded an organization that aims to develop policies that will accelerate the adoption of interoperable radio access network offerings.

The Open RAN Policy Coalition seeks to foster competition and expand the supply chain for various wireless technologies, the organization said Tuesday.

The coalition noted the government needs to incentivize supply chain diversity, evaluate open and interoperable networks and support research development efforts to establish an open wireless technology supply chain.

“By promoting policies that standardize and develop open interfaces, we can ensure interoperability and security across different players and potentially lower the barrier to entry for new innovators,” said Diane Rinaldo, executive director at Open RAN Policy Coalition.
