Jacobs has promoted Major General Tim Byers to senior vice president and general manager of the company’s federal and environmental solutions business, including support to U.S. government agencies and commercial clients responding to the COVID-19 outbreak, the company said Thursday.
“His depth of leadership experience and ‘people first, mission always’ ethos is key in helping the government and private sector deliver critical solutions that advance strategic initiatives and support operational and environmental excellence,” said Jacobs President and Chief Operating Officer Bob Pragada.
Byers will bring nearly four decades of engineering and operations leadership. Byers joined Jacobs in 2016 as F&ES growth and sales after he retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served at the service branch for 32 years.
As Air Force’s Civil Engineer, he supervised the 54,000-person engineering workforce. He organized, trained and equipped the engineer force. He was also responsible for facility, infrastructure, environmental, energy, housing and airfield support at 166 installations worldwide with an $18 billion annual budget for 700 million square foot of real estate valued at $256 billion.
Byers will assume leadership over the F&ES division, driving Jacobs’ relations in mission delivery. F&ES is a global business delivering mission-driven buildings, infrastructure and environmental solutions to U.S. federal, public sector, private sector and defense contractors, including Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and the Army Corps of Engineers. The company has also supported the intelligence community.
In addition to Jacobs’ F&ES defense and intelligence customers, the company has also helped modernize civilian agencies, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), General Services Administration GSA), Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Department of the Interior (DoI), and more.
Byers has remained active in Jacobs’ VETNET and ACE Employee Networks and currently serves on the Wounded Warrior Advisory Board, National NDIA Board, SAME Foundation Board and ACEC Water and Environmental Board.
He has a master’s degree in Engineering Management and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Byers is also past National President and Fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers and holds several distinguished leadership awards from the U.S. Air Force.
“We’re honored to have Tim on point working with our clients and leading our team of Federal & Environmental Solutions professionals in these dynamic and challenging times,” Pragada added.
