Tom Gann, chief public policy officer at McAfee, has said that senior government and industry leaders must drive collaboration in order to improve the sharing of intelligence data, policies and resources, Fifth Domain reported Monday.
Gann told the publication that key stakeholders need to work on “building as complete of a picture†of the threat environment and share contextualized information that can be vital for day-to-day operations.
Michael Daly, Raytheon‘s chief technology officer for cybersecurity and special missions, noted that cybersecurity providers including endpoint security and telecommunications firms should consider working with the federal government to better prevent malicious activities.
“I think there would be a benefit to us at least investigating that as an option — how could we use public-private partnerships to do more active blocking?†he said.
Gann and Daly’s comments come after the Cyberspace Solarium Commission submitted its report to Congress detailing 75 recommendations on cyber policy development.
The group’s recommendations include the establishment of a Joint Collaborative Environment for threat data sharing and a six-month federal assessment of intelligence policies.
