A McKinney, Texas-based Raytheon facility has received a certification for waste reduction and resource management efforts.
The company said Wednesday it received the Total Resource Use and Efficiency, or TRUE, Platinum Zero Waste designation from Green Business Certification, an organization that leads sustainability certification programs.
“The TRUE Platinum Zero Waste certification is a reflection of our values and our commitment to doing business the right way,†said Jeff Place, vice president of supply chain management at Raytheon.
The McKinney-based site recycled scrap materials, packaging, construction debris and old information technology tools. The facility also collected food waste for use in garden maintenance activities.
Raytheon’s resource management efforts at the site reduced the amount of solid waste transported to local dumps by 91 percent.
