Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Mike Canning, leader of Government & Public Services for Deloitte, as the latest inductee into the 2020 edition of the Wash100 for driving innovation and technology capabilities as well as improving citizen-centric initiatives for federal agencies.
This marks the first Wash100 Award win for Canning. Deloitte announced Canning as the new leader of its Government and Services practice in June 2019. Canning now leads a practice of almost 15K people, which provides consulting, risk and financial advisory services to 47 states, cabinet-level agencies across the federal government as well as higher education and nonprofits.
“A major focus of mine will be on human-centered design and helping our government clients get closer to the citizens,†said Canning. “What drives innovation is figuring out what best motivates, connects or engages a citizen. The more we concentrate on what impacts the citizen, the more our clients, and in turn, the citizen will benefit.â€
In the same month, Deloitte was awarded a spot on a potential five-year, $1B blanket purchase agreement for support services to IRS’ Information Technology Enterprise Program Management Office, GovConWire reported in June 2019.
The company will compete for task orders to help the agency plan, manage and implement projects via the IT-EPMSS contract vehicle. Task areas include applications development, cybersecurity, configuration and change management, business analysis and enterprise life cycle support.
In addition, the company also received a potential five-year, $197.3M contract in Aug. 2019 to provide technical, administrative and operational support for products and project lines under the Defense Health Agency’s solutions delivery division.
The company will help DHA SDD manage information assurance, configuration management and training functions for various platforms such as the Defense Medical Logistics Support System, Essentris and Clinical Data Repository.
Deloitte also secured a spot with a ceiling value of $52.6M to help the U.S. Navy maintain its electronic systems intended for use in technology development, experiment and demonstration efforts. The company remains eligible to compete for task orders to provide sustainment and technical support for electronics or special projects to the Navy, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other federal agencies.
Over his 30 year tenure with Deloitte, Canning has served as chair of its Global Committee and is a member of its Strategy and Governance Committee on the U.S. Board of Directors. He has also served as Deloitte’s global consulting managing director of services.
For Deloitte Consulting US, he also served as the national managing director of its Strategy and Operations practice, as well as the Strategy and Transformation leader. Canning began his career with Deloitte as a research analyst in its Detroit office back in 1988.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Canning and Deloitte on the first 2020 Wash100 Award selection of his long career. Canning’s commitment to driving innovation, technology capabilities and citizen-centric initiatives for federal agencies has established him as a top executive in the government contracting sector.
