General Atomics’ aeronautics systems business has installed a flight simulator system at a North Dakota facility for Block 5 variants of a remotely piloted aircraft built to attack time-sensitive targets.
The company said Friday it has integrated the Predator Mission Trainer platform at the Flight Test and Training Center to train MQ-9 Reaper operators.
PMT is manufactured by CAE to deliver high-fidelity training capacities within a broad range of mission training areas. General Atomics expects the platform to expand the training capabilities of the FTTC.
David Alexander, president at General Atomics’ aeronautics systems business, said PMT will enable FTTC to repeat training activities and potentially optimize training efficiency.
FTTC was established to conduct pilot and sensor operator training activities for General Atomics’ RPA offerings. The facility also houses various ground control systems and a Block 1 simulator unit.
