FireEye has won a $100K prize as the first place champion of a cybersecurity contest held by the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command.

The company said Wednesday its MalwareGuard endpoint security product emerged as the top winner of NAVWAR’s Artificial Intelligence Applications to Autonomous Cybersecurity Challenge.

AI ATAC based FireEye’s win based on the entry’s performance in accuracy, incident response and lost cost-related detection.

MalwareGuard uses machine learning technology to detect and address malware activity.

“We are honored to be recognized for this innovation and to support the Navy as they continue to hone cybersecurity solutions that will keep the fleet safe today and into the future,” said Seth Summersett, chief scientist at FireEye.

The Navy’s Program Executive Offices for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence and Space Systems administered the competition.
