The U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Combat Craft Division has issued a request for information on maritime technology platforms designed to identify objects above the ocean’s surface and underwater.
NSWCCD said in a sources sought notice posted Friday it seeks watercraft-mounted obstacle avoidance systems that have a forward viewing range of up to 3K feet as well as can operate for more than 24 hours, transmit data in near-real time and find objects the size of one cubic foot.
Interested companies, academic institutions and government research-and-development organizations can submit input through March 31.
The Navy plans to host an event from July 27 to Aug. 7 as part of the Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Program, funded by the Pentagon's Rapid Reaction Technology Office.
The government intends to work with potential sources through a cooperative R&D agreement.
