Tony Frazier, executive vice president of global field operations at Maxar Technologies and a four-time Wash100 award winner, wrote in an article published on MilsatMagazine how the U.S. government leverages commercial imagery, hardware and services.
Frazier said the Department of Defense and the intelligence community have initiated efforts to reform the acquisition process in order to accelerate the procurement of commercial technologies.
He cited the EnhancedView contract that calls for Maxar to continue delivering commercial satellite imagery to the National Reconnaissance Office and how the company helps the U.S. Air Force and Special Operations Command automate intelligence production cycles using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Frazier also talked about the company’s work on the power and propulsion element for NASA’s lunar Gateway program, the WorldView Legion satellite constellation and on the space agency’s Restore-L program.
