ICF has secured a three-year contract of an undisclosed value to create a disaster management community development block grant mitigation, or CDBG-Mitigation, action plan for the residents of Columbia, S.C.
The scope of work will cover the design of a mitigation needs assessment process and the coordination of public engagement activities within the city, the company said Monday.
ICF will also help manage training and technical assistance efforts, devise policies, provide quality assurance tools and develop measures that will control potential fraud, abuse and waste issues.
“Each year, more communities are at risk from increasingly intense events, and well-conceived, well-executed mitigation programs are the only way to break the cycle,†said Andrew LaVanway, senior vice president and disaster management division lead at ICF.
