The Transportation Security Administration seeks to implement information security requirements across practices and activities in both public and private sectors.
TSA aims to boost levels of security, raise cybersecurity standards and allow vendors to demonstrate cybersecurity expertise, the agency said Tuesday in a SAM notice.
The effort is also intended to help cybersecurity contractors comply with end-user requirements.
The agency’s proposed requirements address the standardization of security equipment, resource accessibility, password control, accountability, screening algorithms, physical and environmental protection and configuration management.
Other tackled issues include systems integrity, data at rest encryption, personnel security and supply chain management.
TSA will hold future meetings on progress review, imaging technologies and explosive detection systems.
Interested parties may submit input for the effort through Jan. 1, 2021.
