Brian Wright, director of systems engineers for federal at CommScope, has said government agencies should begin planning for 5G by updating legacy network infrastructure not only for 5G adoption but also for Citizens Broadband Radio Service with LTE capabilities and Wi-Fi 6.
“Together, these networking innovations make up the trifecta of integrated, next-generation wireless connectivity to give federal agencies the security, quality and ubiquity that is needed,†Wright wrote in a Nextgov article published Friday.
He mentioned the Department of Defense’s efforts to advance the use of the 5G technology through a task force and discussed the three components – densification, optimization and virtualization – to realize the 5G vision in converged networks.
“5G doesn’t hold all the solutions for the modernized government experience, but it is a critical piece that agencies should start planning for now by having the foundation in place,†Wright noted.
