Pedro Medelius, chief scientist and technologist at ASRC Federal’s space and defense unit, has been elected to chair the National Space Club Florida Committee’s board of directors.
Medelius has over three decades of space industry experience and has supported the development of more than 100 NASA technologies, ASRC Federal said.
He performed more than 20 years of contractual work at NASA Kennedy Space Center and worked under the space agency’s University-affiliated Spaceport Technology Development Contract, a program in which ASRC Federal was involved.
“I’m passionate about Florida’s Space Coast and the role this area will play in the next chapter of both human space flight and space exploration,†said Medelius.
The scientist has also received a number of awards such as the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal. NSCFL, a nonprofit group, gathers individuals from government, industry and academia to spread awareness on U.S. aerospace efforts.
