Elbit Systems and MD Helicopters have signed a teaming agreement to incorporate new features into a scout attack helicopter platform designed for military customers.
The partnership aims to equip the MD 530G Block II vehicle with helmet display, tracker and weapons and mission management systems, MD Helicopters said Thursday.
IWS is intended to operate with the company's 369FF glass cockpit, which the Federal Aviation Administration granted type certification.
According to MD Helicopters, HDTS will work to help pilots to place the aircraft into attack position and engage targets while WMS is a digital system that will allow the helicopter to support Hellfire missiles, Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems and other munitions.
A digital mapping application will serve as the key component of MMS and will feature a touchscreen graphical user interface. The app is designed to display a moving map for pilots to obtain situational awareness related to helicopter positions, friendly areas and threats.
The MD 530G Block II variant's electro-optical/infrared system can integrate with MMS to facilitate intelligence detection and storage.
